How bunqers contribute
Every bunq user plants trees simply by using their bunq card. For every €1000 spent, they earn 1 tree. All Easy Bank Pro XL users, anyone in a Green Team, and users under 18 plant 1 tree for every €100 spent. Other ways to plant trees with bunq are referring a friend and winning trees by spinning the Wheel of Fortune. For every tree earned in the bunq app, we finance the planting of a real one.

bunq has active projects in Mteza Creek and Tana Salt (both in Southern Kenya), and completed a few others across Kenya and Madagascar. These places were chosen for their significance in environmental preservation and community support.

Mangrove trees are exceptional carbon sinks! One mangrove tree can make up for 12.3 kg of CO2 per year. They are widely considered to be the best trees to fight climate change, because not only do they offset CO2, they also filter pollutants out of our water and act as nurseries for marine life.

Our impact so far
Since 2019, bunqers have already planted over 17 million trees, offsetting more than 4 million tonnes of CO2! To put that into perspective: that’s over 300 thousands studio apartments filled with trees, and could be compared to more than 900 thousand cars being taken off the road for one year!
